Many cities, towns and counties across the country experienced declines in revenues and increases in operating costs during the pandemic.  Many financial problems are yet to be ascertained depending on the tax and fees collected for 2020 and 2021.  The problem is so widespread, that municipal government entities facing financial difficulties now have the ability to restructure their debts under Chapter 9 of Federal Bankruptcy Code without the attendant bankruptcy stigma.  The panel will discuss eligibility for filing under Chapter 9, restructuring strategies and alternatives, differences from Chapter 11 and lessons learned from past cases.
